The Residential Lighting Design Guide helps California home builders meet new energy code requirements.

  • The guide is a resource to help the building community understand the new 2005 residential lighting requirements and integrate changes into new and retrofit home plans.
  • Through clear descriptions and diagrams of high-efficacy luminaires, sensors, and dimmers, technical overviews are made easy to understand.
Six Categories for Residential Buildings are Covered in the Guide for Energy Code Compliance
  • Kitchens
  • Bathrooms, laundry rooms, utility rooms, and garages
  • Outdoor spaces
  • Parking lots and garages
  • Common areas of low-rise building
  • Other spaces

In collaboration with Connie Buchan of SMUD and broad industry involvement, CLTC produced the Residential Lighting Design Guide. Based on the positive feedback and numerous requests for the guide, CLTC has a limited number of printed guides.
