Hybrid Smart Wall Switch

CLTC researchers developed an occupancy based light switch for bathroom applications with The Watt Stopper/Legrand, intended to create significant energy savings.

The traditional manual on/off light switch has an integrated nightlight and occupancy sensor. The 1-Watt LED operates continuously serving as a nightlight while the occupancy sensor turns off the lights after a one-hour vacancy period. Field studies showed 50% energy savings.

For more information on the development of this product, visit the PIER project Web site. For more product information, visit The Watt Stopper/Legrand WN-100 Passive Infrared Nightlight Wall Switch Sensor Web page.

Information from these studies were used in further research by PG&E for marketable emerging technologies for the hospitality industry.
