Hybrid Smart LED Luminaires

The research team, in collaboration with the project partners, developed a motion sensor and photosensor controlled fixture that uses a 4–Watt LED array during unoccupied times and supplemented with an incandescent or CFL lamp during occupied night periods. CLTC has worked with multiple manufacturers on multiple fixture designs. The hybrid model has been integrated in a porch fixture and a pathway fixture as shown below.

Early field demonstrations showed 70-90% energy savings. Initial commercialization of the product was conducted by Hunter Lighting.
