Jessica is a returning student to UC Davis. After studying Human Development, she has decided that design is what she is more challenged by and passionate about. She has enjoyed the “hands on” learning experience that the lighting design studios have given her, and looks forward to similar opportunities in future courses. As an interior architecture major she is planning on finishing the program in Spring of 2007.

Jessica's design approach with these two wall sconces was simplicity. She wanted to experiment with using a single element to see what elegant shapes she might be able to produce. Using copper and aluminum allowed her to easily mold fixtures into the desired form and therefore produce the desired lighting effect. She also wanted my fixture to match the thin, low profile quality of the LED. Because the light source is so narrow and thin, the profile of her fixture could also be flat and thin, without being concerned with hiding a bulky light source. These two luminaires can be used in several indoor and outdoor applications such as pathway lighting, or to signal an entryway.
