Research Engineer
Kevin Gauna graduated from UC Berkeley in 1995 with a degree in Materials Science and Engineering. He became fascinated with the concept of solar power, and started making solar powered art under the name Sunbrothers. While working on a sunflower project, Kevin was introduced to Michael, and soon started work as a lighting engineer at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. While at the Lab he worked as a primary technical advisor and prototype builder, and started work on LED lighting applications. He left Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory to help start the California Lighting Technology Center in February 2004. His current focus remains on LED technology and its use in illumination applications.
