BEN KOYLE
Research Engineer


Ben Koyle is a research engineer for the California Lighting Technology Center. Ben graduated from Cal Poly, Pomona in 1996 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. While at Cal Poly, he took some lighting classes and decided to make lighting his career. Ben attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and graduated with a Master of Science in Lighting. He spent five years working for Lutron Electronics as a engineer and five years at SYLVANIA as a trainer. While at SYLVANIA, Ben taught Illuminating Engineering at the University of New Hampshire. Ten years after his lighting career began, he took the NCQLP Lighting Certification test and passed in 2006. Ben's interests include teaching, photosensors, and lighting controls. He is currently working on the R-ICLS and CEDR projects.
