CLTC – California cities could save more than $675 million over the next 15 years through streetlight upgrades, based on research conducted by the California Lighting Technology Center (CLTC) at UC Davis. The new patent-pending lighting series is a collection of hybrid bi-level fixtures that utilize a 5000K induction lamp and amber LEDs, coupled with occupancy sensor controls. When the area is vacant, amber-colored LEDs emit biologically-friendly light. When the sensor is triggered, the induction lamp turns on to provide bright white light for enhanced security.
Xeralux – Xeralux, Inc. announced that it is now an affiliate of the California Lighting Technology Center (CLTC) at the University of California, Davis and will utilize its cutting edge facilities and dynamic support staff to accelerate the product development and market availability of Xeralux outdoor area and industrial lighting retrofits and fixtures. UC Davis – UC Davis today agreed to help the U.S. Navy find new ways to use less energy and to derive more of the energy it does use from renewable sources such as the sun and wind, instead of oil and coal.
