CA IOU Program: Submittal Form

07/20/2015

CLTC is now the lead organization processing new LED product report reviews for the upstream Residential Lighting Incentive Programs conducted by PG&E, SCE, and SDG&E. CLTC staff work with the utility Program Managers to identify product that will be considered for review. If manufacturers have products that are likely to meet the CEC Specification, the manufacturer should contact the utility Program Manager to be considered for participation. Program Managers will determine which products CLTC will review, based on their program needs.

Product Review for Compliance with the California Quality LED Lamp Specification

The California Energy Commission has adopted a voluntary lighting quality specification for LED replacement lamps. The California Quality LED Lamp Specification requires LED lamps to meet certain performance criteria. The requirement to use the standard to guide Residential Lighting Incentive Program currently applies to the investor owned utilities, but several municipal utilities are considering the adoption of the standard.

Light-RITE California: Lighting Retrofit Information, Training and Education

CLTC, UC Davis, is collaborating with other stakeholders to launch the statewide Lighting Retrofit Information, Training and Education program (Light-RITE California). The program will provide public building facility managers with the knowledge and tools they need to get the best possible results from lighting upgrades. The program focuses on the top 10 lighting retrofit strategies that have been proven to reliably capture the most savings. It will include instruction on conducting lighting audits, completing measurement and verification, and minimizing maintenance costs.

LD+A Research Matters: Eyes on the Road

08/01/2013

LD+A – CLTC researchers incorporated passive infrared (PIR) occupancy sensors and networked controls into a test set of dimmable LED roadway fixtures. The adaptive street lighting system yielded energy savings 27 to 42 percent greater than when the fixtures operated at a static level. All occupants, 100 percent, were detected by the PIR occupancy sensor selected for field testing, whether they were traveling on foot, by bicycle, on a motorcycle, or in an automobile.

All High-Efficacy Lighting for Residential Applications

All High Efficacy Lighting for Residential Applications

California's 2008 and 2013 Title 24 standards require some high-efficacy lighting in a limited number of residential space types, such as kitchens and bathrooms. (Refer to the project page for more on code requirements for high-efficacy luminaire classification.) Future standards requiring all high-efficacy lighting in residential buildings could yield large-scale energy savings—if cost-effective technologies will satisfy consumers.
