UC Davis Smart Lighting Initiative

The UC Davis Smart Lighting Initiative was established in 2010 to improve the quality and efficiency of both indoor and outdoor lighting on campus. The initiative's primary goal is to reduce UC Davis's electricity use for lighting by 60 percent, based on 2007 levels of energy use. The effort was inspired by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and its call to reduce statewide electricity consumption for lighting by 60 percent or more by 2020.

Cooper Lighting's Halo LED Downlight Earns ENERGY STAR Listing

Cooper – Cooper Lighting, a division of Cooper Industries, Ltd.  announces that its Halo LED recessed downlight is the first in the industry to meet stringent ENERGY STAR requirements for solid state lighting (SSL) luminaires. ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy helping consumers and organizations save money and protect the environment through energy-efficient products and practices.

CLTC completes more than 100 demonstrations of energy-efficient lighting

CLTC – The California Lighting Technology Center (CLTC), a research, development, and demonstration facility at the University of California, Davis, has installed more than 100 demonstrations of energy-efficient lighting since the Center’s inception in 2004. The wide range of demonstrations has been installed at University of California, California State University, California Community College campuses, and state and federal buildings throughout California in an effort to prove energy-efficient technology and report the findings to the public through case studies.

The Lighting Quotient – The Lighting Quotient, manufacturer of elliptipar and tambient, will unveil the company’s first LED fixture, as well as a number of new elliptipar and tambient products at the 2010 AIA National Convention in Miami, FL, from June 10 to 12, 2010. Dave Pfund, the president of The Lighting Quotient’s tambient division will also lead a learning session focused on lighting and sustainable energy solutions.
