The Illuminating Engineering Society’s Annual Conference provides a range of educational programming on the art, design, science, and research of lighting relevant to lighting professionals, educators, and related design disciplines. The 2024 Annual Conference is taking place in New York City at the Marriott Marquis.
On August 17th at 10:30 am, CLTC Co-Director Jae Yong Suk presented his thought-provoking talk titled "The Impact of Nighttime Lighting Environments on Perceived Safety in California's Underserved Community Parks." This presentation explored the critical role that lighting design plays in creating safe and welcoming public spaces, particularly in underserved communities. Professor Suk's research investigates how nighttime lighting can influence perceptions of safety and park use, with a specific focus on California's underserved communities. This session was of interest to those involved in lighting design, park planning, and community safety initiatives.
