UC Davis students have a bright opportunity to push the boundaries of luminaire design in the 15th Annual Luminaire Design Competition, hosted in partnership with BuzziSpace and the California Lighting Technology Center.
As part of DES 136B: Designing with Light, taught by Professor Jae Yong Suk, students will explore cutting-edge LED technology, innovative acoustics, and spatial transformation techniques. This year’s competition challenges participants to design and build fully functional LED luminaires using BuzziSpace’s signature recycled materials, addressing real-world lighting challenges with sustainability and creativity in mind.
Final prototypes will be judged by an expert panel of industry leaders, where winners will be rewarded with an exclusive trip to BuzziSpace’s production facility near Seattle, WA, to get a firsthand look at how innovation comes to life.
