While the current outdoor lighting system keeps communities safe and accessible, it also disrupts wildlife corridors, pollinator behavior, and bird migration. Researchers are collaborating with industry leaders to address this challenge through the BALANCE project. By looking at outdoor lighting through an ecological lens, BALANCE explores how intentional lighting design can protect California’s biodiversity and agricultural resilience without compromising public safety or state energy goals.
RSVP for Session 1 on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
