Understanding Consumer Interpretation of Common Lighting Metrics & Packaging

Published: Fri, 11/06/2020

As lighting technology changes, so too does the terminology used to describe it. New terms and ratings commonly become part of product packaging long before the general public has a reliable understanding of their meanings and the impact on their environments.

To reduce this information gap and increase consumer awareness of LED technology, CLTC developed a targeted marketing strategy for increasing consumer acceptance and sustained use of LED lighting products. CLTC’s strategy is based on consumer data collected as part of a survey designed to document people’s current understanding of modern lighting metrics and other labeling information found on retail LED lighting products.
