The IES's Recommended Practice for Daylighting Buildings (RP-5-13) recently garnered an award at Lightfair International 2014. The Recommended Practice guide was selected for top honors in the "Research, Publications, Software and Measuring Devices" category.

CLTC Co-director and IES Daylighting Committee Chair Konstantinos Papamichael drove the creation and development of the IES RP-5-13 in collaboration with his IES colleagues. California's Public Interest Energy Research (PIER) program and the California Energy Commission supported much of the work at CLTC that informed and accelerated development of the RP-5-13.

Daylighting in commercial buildings can reduce electricity use for lighting by 40-50% or more, but daylighting also presents a host of complex challenges. The RP-5-13 includes the most up-to-date information and expertise on daylight delivery methods, glazing systems, shading techniques, control strategies, and daylight performance simulation tools.

Order the RP-5-13 from the IES.
