Outdoor Lighting

Adaptive Campus Control System at UC Davis

Advances in outdoor luminaires and lighting controls save energy while enhancing visibility, safety and security, protecting dark sky habitats, and improving light distribution outdoors. CLTC develops, demonstrates and expands the application of these solutions. Photocontrols and time clock controls ensure electricity use for lighting is reduced when plenty of daylight is available. Innovations in occupancy sensors and lighting controls further minimize energy consumption during the long periods of vacancy that are typical of many outdoor areas at night. The center also works with its partners to design and develop energy-efficient outdoor luminaires and lighting control systems that are attractive, reliable and durable while minimizing light pollution.
